The CYPPC (or, to give it its full name, the Children and Young Persons Protection Committee) is the group that's responsible for making sure that agencies work together to develop and put in place all the services and policies that will protect Dundee's children and young people. In other words, the Committee is the place where the different agencies get together to decide what the priorities are and how to meet them.
There's a committee in every other part of Scotland.
The CYPPC has a number of jobs. These are:
Public Information
This means:
- making sure that everyone in Dundee is aware of issues to do with keeping children and young people safe. And that they know it's everyone's job to protect Dundee's children and young people;
- telling people about what the different agencies do to help protect children and young people; and
- providing information about where people can go and who they can contact if they have concerns about a child or young person.
Continuous Improvement
This means:
- making sure that agencies have the right policies and procedures in place and that they are up-to-date;
- having good information about what's happening across Dundee, so that the right decisions can be made about developing services to protect children and young people;
- ensuring that we check the quality of the services that are provided;
- providing different training and staff development courses so that people working with children, young people and families have the knowledge and skills they require to do their job well.
Strategic Planning
This means:
- making sure that agencies communicate and co-operate with each other in planning and delivering the services that help to protect children and young people
