hand icon ....what do different people do?

The people who work in different agencies all have a different job to do. But, when children and young people are in need of help and support and protection, then they all have one job - to work together to make sure that the child or young person is safe and is not at risk of being harmed.

The one thing that people who work in child protection know is that children, young people and their families get better help and support when everyone that's involved works together. That could mean people like housing officers, teachers, doctors, social workers, police officers, nursery teachers.

But they just don’t have to work with each other. They all have to make sure that the child, young person and their family are also involved in everything that happens.

People such as parents, family members, social workers, teachers, health visitors, police officers, doctors all have an important role. Each one of these can make a difference. But they can make an even greater difference when they all work together.

Click on the other pages in this section to find out more about the role that each agency has in protecting children and young people.
