Working Together to Protect Children and Young People
When children and young people are in need of help and support, then those involved have to work together. Previous experience has shown that children are better protected when everyone involved works together and shares appropriate information.
Every professional and agency has a different role to play in supporting and helping a family. But they will do that job much better when they work effectively with each other and with members of the family involved. That is why shared assessment, planning and co-ordinated help and support does make a difference for a child, young person and family.
People such as parents, family members, social workers, teachers, health visitors, police officers, doctors all have an important role. Each one of these can make a difference. But they can make an even greater difference when they all work well together.
