About being involved in a Child Protection Inquiry

If you, or someone else, has told a teacher, doctor, social worker, police officer, or someone else, that you've been abused or neglected or are at risk of being abused or neglected, then it can feel that people are about to take over your life. It can feel as if things are going out of your control and that you aren't able to stop it. You may well feel that people who care for you are going to become angry and that everyone will start blaming you.

That's the way it feels for nearly everyone.

The way to make sure that doesn't happen is for you to have all the information you need. The other pages in this section give you that information. If there are any questions that you still have, then ask someone. You have a right to know.

Remember:

  • You have a right to know what’s going on.
  • You have right to have your views and opinions listened to.

If you feel that people aren't telling you what's going on, or that you're not being asked what you think or that people are not listening to your views, then make a noise. Make sure that they listen to you.

If you're still not happy, then contact the Children's Rights Officer. The number is on the 'Who to Contact' panel on the Homepage.
